The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have agreed to terms on a trade with Pittsburgh for safetyMinkah Fitzpatrickand a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for cornerbackJalen Ramsey, tight endJonnu Smithand a 2027 seventh-round pick, pending physicals.
Fitzpatrickis an eight-year veteran and three-time first-team All Pro selection who has appeared in 106 career games with 101 starts in seven seasons with Miami (2018-19) and Pittsburgh (2019-24). He has recorded 606 tackles (398 solo), 20 interceptions with four returned for a touchdown, 54 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. Fitzpatrick, who has also started in four postseason contests, has been selected to five Pro Bowls. He entered the NFL as a first-round selection (11th overall) by Miami in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Alabama where he was a member of the 2015 and 2017 National Championship teams.
Ramseyhas appeared in 135 career games with 134 starts in nine seasons with Jacksonville (2016-19), the L.A. Rams (2019-2022) and Miami (2023-24). He has totaled 534 tackles (432 solo), 3.0 sacks, 24 interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, 108 passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in his career. He started in 27 contests in his two seasons with the Dolphins, recording 82 tackles (57 solo), 1.0 sack, five interceptions and 16 passes defensed. He entered the league as first-round selection (fifth overall) by Jacksonville in the 2016 NFL Draft and played collegiately at Florida State.
Smithhas appeared in 124 career games with 84 starts in eight seasons with Tennessee (2017-20), New England (2021-22), Atlanta (2023) and Miami (2024). He has totaled 307 receptions for 3,307 yards (10.8 avg.) and 28 touchdowns in his career. Smith signed with Miami as a free agent on March 8, 2024, and appeared in 17 contests with six starts in his lone season with the Dolphins, recording 88 receptions for 884 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Smith entered the NFL as a third-round selection (100th overall) by Tennessee in the 2017 NFL Draft following a collegiate career at Florida International.
