The Triple Take crew of Dale Lolley, Matt Williamson and Mike Prisuta take a look at the top prospects in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, which will be held in April. Today, they delve into the offensive tackle position.

Dale's Thoughts:There's no change in the five who are on the board, and all have a chance to go in the first round, but last year's NFL Draft was an excellent one for offensive tackles, with seven selected in the first round and 11 taken in the first two rounds. None of the tackles in this group would have been in the top five from a year ago. Campbell's arm length, measured at 32 5/8th inches at the Combine, was 33 inches at LSU's pro day, as measured by an NFL scout. He was a starter as a true freshman at left tackle at LSU and could stick there in the NFL. Membou might be the best athlete of the group, but is on the shorter side and has been a right tackle in college. If he weren't recovering from a torn patella, Simmons would be in the conversation as the top tackle in this draft. He has the ideal size and length, though he's more of a finesse tackle, he profiles as a left tackle. He also might not play a down this season. Charles Grant of William & Mary is a mid-round prospect who might need some seasoning, but has the ideal length at 6-foot-5 and nearly 35-inch arms to play the position. Logan Brown of Kansas spent his first four seasons at Wisconsin before being dismissed from the team in 2022 for an incident with interim head coach Jim Leonhard. The Steelers have a good relationship with Leonhard, so they'll have the scoop on exactly what that incident entailed. But Brown has talent. At 6-foot-8, 341 pounds, Hollin Pierce of Rutgers is Max Starks-sized. He also is a four-year starter with 24 coming at right tackle and 26 on the left side. There is some value in that ability.

Matt's Thoughts:There weren't any changes in my top five offensive tackles, but I do really wish we had more clarity on Simmons' health situation at the moment. If the league gets a clean bill of health on him right before draft day, it might really shock people how quickly Simmons-a true left tackle-comes off the board in the first round. ... Money talks. The NFL has shown us once again that there is simply a huge shortage of quality starting players at this position. Buying a starting offensive tackle in free agency will always result in an overpay. Because just not enough of them exist. In turn, fiscally wise teams that don't appear to need a tackle on the surface could still snag these draftees higher than most might imagine. ... Carson Vinson from Alabama A&M is an ideal mid-round player from a very small football program that the league should look to develop as a potential down the line starter. He has a great frame with length and natural athletic ability. An NFL weight room and offensive line coach could do Vinson a world of good. ... Boston College's Ozzy Trapilo is a perfect example of a player that the league could look to grab early on the second day of the draft and plug him right into their starting lineup, likely at right tackle. Other than his size and physicality, Trapilo doesn't have physical traits that will wow you, but he gets the job done time and time again. And there is great immediate value to that. Trapilo's father played in the league and the consistency that Ozzy brings to the table will be very enticing to teams looking for immediate tackle help-and plenty of teams qualify.

Mike's Thoughts:Purdue's Marcus Mbow (6-3 3/4, 332 lbs.) has experience at guard and tackle, like a number of this year's candidates. He has a basketball background and according to NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah, Mbow has "tackle feet." Anthony Belton (6-6, 336 lbs.) was a left tackle at N.C. State in 2024 but worked at guard during Senior Bowl Week. He's a big guy who can move West Virginia's Wyatt Milum (6-6 1/2, 313 lbs.) has also been looked at as a potential guard at the next level. Milum has a reputation for physicality and nastiness, earned in part, presumably, for his being able to face-plant Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter while pass protecting at left tackle Rutgers' Hollin Pierce (6-73/4, 342 lbs.) appeared in one game in 2020, then started 50 of the next 51. Pierce's arm length of 36 5/8 inches is the third-longest ever recorded Kansas' Logan Brown (6-6 3/8, 311 lbs.) projects as a mid-round selection. He only started 14 games in six college seasons at Wisconsin and Kansas but 11 of those starts were made at right tackle in 2024 for the Jayhawks Oregon's Ajani Cornelius (6-5, 315 lbs.) played right tackle opposite Conerly for the Ducks on what was a formidable front. He was invited to the Senior Bowl last year but decided to hone his craft rather than enter the draft Arizona's Jonah Savaiinaea (6-4 1/4, 324 lbs.) has 21 career starts at tackle and 15 at guard under his belt. He's a long-armed mauler and he raised eyebrows with a sub.-5.00 40-yard dash (4.95) at the NFL Scouting Combine Minnesota's Aireontae Ersery (6-6, 331 lbs.) ran a 5.01 40 in Indy and also distinguished himself against Carter, one of the top players available in the draft. "He did more than hang in there," NFL Network analyst Charles Davis maintained. "He fought him each and every play. You saw a guy fight. You saw a guy doing all the right things." Iowa State's Jalen Travis (6-7 5/8, 339 lbs.) looks like a third- or fourth-round selection in Jeremiah's estimation, but also a "solid starter" in the NFL Cameron Williams (6-5, 335 lbs.) only started one season at Texas but he's a physical specimen who really looks the part and oozes potential upside Ozzy Trapilo (6-8 1/8, 316 lbs.) of Boston College is the son of Steve Trapilo, who played guard for the Saints for five seasons after being drafted on the fourth round out of BC in 1987. Then-Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy characterized Ozzy Trapilo as a future starting right tackle in the NFL during Senior Bowl Week.
